About

I spent ten years of my life pursuing an ambitious (or perhaps pretentious) career in business and law.  I studied for my MBA in Switzerland and after returning took a position at a bank in New York City.  Not satisfied with modest masochism, I started to study law at night.  It was long and hard, really hard.  Still, I stuck with it and in the end found myself in a position at a well known international law firm.  I’d made it, or so I thought.

The truth of the matter is I had climbed to the wrong mountaintop.  I enjoyed my studies, but life as a keyboard monkey in a cubicle prison left me unfulfilled.  I wanted adventure and excitement.  I wanted a life that inspired people.

So here it is! Here you will find writings documenting my travels around the globe as I seek adventure and inspiration, for myself and others.  It is a sometimes humorous and sometimes ponderous record of my successes (and failures).  For a taste of my writing check out the Best Of page. As photography is another passion of mine, you’ll find the writing accompanied by photos, almost always taken by me.  For a highlight of some of my favorite photos check out the Photography page and be sure to stop by the Etsy shop to pick up your prints: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnOutOfTheWayPlace/.

I hope you’ll enjoy your time at An Out of the Way Place.  If nothing else, I hope to add a little humor, beauty, wit or introspection to someone’s life.  Please leave a comment and come back to visit often.  If you love this site and want to help keep it going, please consider making a donation or buying a print.  Thanks to readers like you I’ve accomplished a lot already, but the world is a big place and I have more to do. 😉

  5. However, even though you can publish an article on your
blog, it’s not very wise to submit something that should have been a blog as
an article. So, if you need help with adding a theme to your new blog on blog.
